but the gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Walking on Water Faith

Jesus Christ walking on the waters of the sea

Storms reveal what we truly believe. In Matthew 14:22–33, the disciples were caught in a storm when Jesus came walking toward them on the water. They were afraid, but Jesus said:

Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.

Matthew 14:27

Peter responded with bold faith. When Jesus said, “Come,” Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water. That is walking-on-water faith—obedience in the middle of uncertainty.

But when Peter focused on the wind instead of Jesus, fear took over and he began to sink (Matthew 14:30). The moment we shift our eyes from Christ to our circumstances, fear rises.

Yet immediately, Jesus reached out and caught him.

Walking-on-water faith isn’t about never feeling fear. It’s about fixing our eyes on Jesus despite the storm.

This month, choose faith over fear. Step out of the boat. Keep your eyes on Him—and trust that He will hold you steady.

1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the [a]ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he [b]meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the [c]rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
