A shepherd is someone who tends sheep and lead them.
In the book of Samuel (1 and 2 Samuel) we read about the life story of David.
In 1 Samuel 16 David was anointed as future king of Israel. We learn that David was only a shepherds boy. He followed the sheep and took care of them.
As the years pass, David had to be molded and went through great tribulation.
Only in 2 Samuel David started reigning over Judah and in 2 Samuel 5 we read that he started to rule over Israel as a whole.
And the Lord said to you, ‘You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.’
2 Samuel 5:2b NIV
God transformed David from a shepherd boy (follower of the sheep) into the shepherd of His nation (leader of the sheep).
Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.
2 Samuel 7:8 NKJV
Always remember where you started.
If you want to boast, boast in the Lord
It is only because of God that you are where you are now. God transformed you from a piece of clay into a beautiful vase.
