Did you know that antivenom for snake bites is made using lambs?
Here’s how it works:
Small amounts of snake venom are injected into a lamb. In response, the lamb’s body begins to produce antibodies. These antibodies are then extracted from the lamb’s blood and used to create antivenom—medicine that can save the life of someone bitten by a venomous snake.
How incredible is that?
Now consider this: in a deeply symbolic and powerful way, Christ—the Lamb of God—is our spiritual antivenom.
Just as a snake brought the curse of sin into the world in the Garden of Eden, Jesus overcame that curse by offering His own blood to bring us life and freedom.
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
1 Peter 1:18-19
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
Revelation 12:11
God was also pleased to bring everything on earth and in heaven back to himself through Christ. He did this by making peace through Christ’s blood sacrificed on the cross.
Colossians 1:20
Through His sacrifice, Jesus became the cure to the venom of sin. His blood doesn’t just neutralise the effect of the enemy’s poison—it restores, redeems, and revives.
What an amazing picture of grace and power! Christ, our eternal antivenom.
