Supporting God

Support is to “bear all or part of the weight” or to “give assistance”. Sometimes we go through troubling waters with no support or something to save us. God assures us in His Word that He will be that very thing that we need to be saved. We can depend on Him.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer

2 Samuel 22:2 NKJV
A fortress is a castle or other large strong building, or a well-protected place, which is intended to be difficult for enemies to enter.
A fortress is a safe place, that you can run to if you need help or to be safe from your enemies.
God is our fortress and our “safe place” that we can go to for protection from all evil.

The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You saved me from violence.

2 Samuel 22:3 NKJV

In the past, when the armies blew their horns,  it meant that they were ready for battle. In our battle we have an advantage, when we “blow our horns” for the battle. As we already know that we, through Jesus who is our salvation, already have won the battle.

Jesus is our shield and our safe place; He will support us through every battle.

He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support.

2 Samuel 22:18-19 NIV

Just like a lion hunts the weakest of the herd, the enemy will attack when you are at your weakest; but God will keep you safe.

Through every battle, know that God is your support.
