A shepherd is someone who tends sheep and leads them.
In the book of Samuel (1 and 2 Samuel), we read about the life story of David. In 1 Samuel 16 David was anointed as the future king of Israel. We learn that David was only a shepherd’s boy.
As the years passed, David had to be moulded and went through great tribulation.
Only in 2 Samuel David started reigning over Judah and in 2 Samuel 5 we read that he began to rule over Israel as a whole.
And the Lord said to you, ‘You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.’
2 Samuel 5:2b NIV
God transformed David from a shepherd boy (follower of the sheep) into the shepherd of His nation (leader of His sheep).
Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.
2 Samuel 7:8 NKJV
Always remember where you started.
If you want to boast, boast in the Lord
It is only because of God that you are where you are now. God transformed you from a piece of clay into a beautiful vase.
